Our panto, “Goody Two Shoes”, is done and dusted and, by all accounts, audiences enjoyed it. It was really good to have some new male members in the cast, following a bit of advertising in the village! Well done, men! Our younger members, too, are worth a special mention as they performed so well. Reading and auditions for “Far from the Madding Crowd” were held in March and this year we have been able to cast the play. This very atmospheric adaptation by Matthew White will be performed in the village hall on 1st – 4th September this year. I am very much looking forward to directing this myself and I am delighted with the strong cast I have in readiness to start rehearsals in June. On 17th April we held a Voice and Acting Skills Workshop in the hall. Voice coach, Sue Andrews, led the morning workshop and we learned a great deal about using our voices well. After lunch, I had the participants twisted up in knots doing various tableaux and drama games. A very happy day was had by all! We are still looking for a director for our musical next February, so if there is anyone out there who would like to take on this job, please contact me. Box Office for the play opens on 14th August at Burton Bradstock Post Office. We always need new members of any age and if you are interested in joining Burton Bradstock Players, please get in touch.
