Two cultures meet again. Rev. Arthur
Dittmer points out the inscription on a table-tomb in the churchyard
at Burton Bradstock. Before 1783, the two nations have a common
history. Photograph: Imperial War Museum |

Tea for two Americans on the Rectory
lawn, in the shadow of Burton Bradstock church. Rev. Arthur Dittmer,
his wife (and tabby cat) were the hosts. Their US Army visitors were

St. Mary's Church C. 1945. Here is a
typical country parish church with Saxon roots, surrounded until
recently, by gravestones and vast yew trees "leaning down low",
together with mature copper beech about 100 feet high. Apparently,
the wood from the yew trees was used to make bows. |
